
The Department of Otolaryngology and Communicative Sciences Clinical
Research Group is dedicated to conducting industry sponsored, cooperative
group, multidisciplinary, and investigator-initiated research studies.
We have dedicated and experienced full time, clinical research coordinators
to expedite regulatory and start up activities, and support in conducting
clinical trials. Our coordinators are provided educational programs
and support to enhance their skills and maintain GCP and regulatory
and knowledge. We provide facilities for outpatient Phase II-IV clinical
trials.
We recently became the first department to introduce gene therapy and biologic trials at UMMC. We continue to be the only department to offer such trials. These clinical trials are specific to the head and neck cancer area.
