| The focus of Dr. Pitman's research is sentinel lymph node biopsy in head and neck cancer, evaluation of pain management in head and neck cancer patients and devlopment and design of institutional treatment protocols for head and neck cancer. | |

| Dr. Pitman is a reviewer and/or on the editorial board of several national specialty journals, including Laryngoscope, American Journal of Otolaryngology, and Head and Neck. She is active in many major specialty societies, such as the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, American Head and Neck Society, Society of University Otolaryngologists and the Mississippi Society of Otolaryngology. She is the medical student coordinator for the department and she coordinates the multispecialty Head and Neck Tumor Board. | |
